Volvo presents the FH special model „Performance Edition“ at the IAA.
Striking features of the model are the 540 PS, double-clutch transmission and an independent suspension. There is also a globetrotter XL cab with ample equipment. Early on Volvo has presented many innovations of which are the new D13 engines (12.8 liter engines) that work with a common-rail-fuel injection (previously pump injector). A higher compaction (420 and 460 PS), new turbocharger (500 and 540 PS) as well as fine tuning promise less consumption.
New I-Shift-Transmission with creep speed
Another innovation is the I-Shift-Transmission with creep speed (crawler), which allow a pull weight of 25 tons for heavy-haulage trucks and which can be ordered for a standard FH or FM. Here the focus is not on consumption but on material-friendly starting and manoeuvring. One of many reasons for Volvo to introduce its new transmission at the IAA for 8x4 heavy-haulage vehicles and also integrated in a 6x2 swap trailer.
In general programme complements are dominating the Volvo programm at the fair, as e.g. a reduced-weight semitrailer truck with a long driver cab and less than six tons empty weight. The FH series shows the 6x4 semitrailer truck which can be equipped with a liftable third axle.
