Scania presents new models Scania R and Scania S at the international commercial vehicle trade fair IAA.

At Scania (hall 17, booth B06), the star of the IAA 2016 is quickly identified – the new Scania R and the new top model Scania S. The Swedes presented these new models in Paris at the end of August. The previous vehicles of the P/G/R-programs will continue to be produced. With the S-series, whose roofs tower almost 3.9 meters above the ground, Scania provides drivers cabs with level floors for the first time. Optically, the S and R show a striking Scania-face and even more radius than before, which especially improves the aerodynamics. Overall, 24 versions are planned on the basis of these new drivers cabs, which will gradually be entered into production and replace the current offer.

For the interior, Scania offers new amenities, greater internal height and a better view, thanks to a lower-mounted dashboard. Furthermore, two 80 centimeter-wide daybeds can be erected in the Scania S; the lower one is extendable to 100 centimeters.

Exhaust gas cleaning with the "SCR-only" method

Next to the new interior and exterior cabins, improved and partially new technologies will be employed. All six-cylinders of the DC13 series (12.7 liter cylinder capacity) now clean their exhaust gas (Euro 6) via the method „SCR-only“. In the strongest version, the engine performance rose from 490 to 500 PS. Redesigned combustion chambers, new injectors and a more efficient intercooler promise three percent less diesel consumption. This amounts to five percent in combination with the improved aerodynamics. For more consumption reduction, the choice of new and, with 2.35 to 1, extremely long axle ratio is given, which reduces the engine rotational speeds at 85 km/h to just under 1.100 rpm. A gear brake on the transmission is also new, and provides a significantly faster upshift for the Opticruise-gearbox. Included now are also maintenance intervals that orient themselves on the us of the vehicle, and at best reach up to 150.000 kilometers for long-distance trucks.
