CLdN Cargo BV from Rotterdam in the Netherlands is capitalising on 100 new Kögel Cargo Rails in its vehicle fleet. CLdN Cargo BV offers their customers door-to-door transport using their own trailers via short sea shipping, to and from Great Britain, Ireland, Portugal and Scandinavia.

It also provides forwarding and logistics services via all modes of transport within Europe. With the new Kögel trailers, CLdN Cargo BV is not only updating its existing vehicle fleet of over 800 trailers, but is also making a significant contribution to protecting the environment and reducing CO2 emissions. Thanks to the flexibility to use the Kögel trailers on roads, railways and ships, CLdN Cargo BV can take optimum advantage of ferry and rail transport on main routes, and benefit from the truck's flexibility for both pre-carriage and onward carriage.

Kögel Cargo Rail

The trailers designed for multimodal transport are equipped with a reinforced chassis frame. The gripper edges integrated into the frame, a gripper jaw tarpaulin protection made from aramid fabric and special axles in a rail design allow the Cargo Rails to be loaded onto rails. The Kögel Cargo Rail has thus been designed for flexible loading on the most prevalent rail pocket wagons.
It goes without saying that the trailers are also certified in accordance with DIN EN 12642 code XL, and are therefore designed for transport on fast freight trains with speeds of up to 140 km/h. Like all Kögel vehicles, the entire vehicle frame is protected against long-term corrosion by cathodic dip-paint nano-ceramic coating technology and subsequent painting.

CLdN RoRo equipment

If required, trailers for unaccompanied boat and ferry transport feature optional RoRo equipment with a diagonal reinforcement between the side member and external frame, a ten-millimetre-thick closed slide plate, a ten-millimetre-thick wheel plate, two suction valves and four pairs of heavy-duty lashing rings with 12,000 kilograms of test force as well as signage in accordance with DIN EN 29367-2. One pair of the standard Ro/Ro lashing rings at the front have been replaced by another pair of Ro/Ro lashing rings positioned further to the left and right, on the front section of the frame, in the area of the king pin. An additional pair of standard Ro/Ro lashing rings at the rear, has been replaced by a pair of heavy-duty lashing rings in front of the underride guard. This prevents damage to the light carrier when using chains. In addition, there is an eight-millimetre-thick slide plate fitted in the front area between the external frame and side member. The CLdN Ro/Ro equipment is completed by double screw-fastened, reinforced semi-trailer supports in a ferry design with rollers and an underride guard, shortened to 2,340 millimetres, with skids.

A wide range of additional CLdN individual equipment

The floor load-bearing capacity is designed to withstand high fork-lift axle loads of up to 8,000 kilograms. For optimal load-securing, the VarioFix perforated steel external frame is equipped with 13 pairs of lashing rings with 4,000 kilograms of tensile force per ring, as opposed to the standard 2,000 kg of tensile force per ring. 16 pairs of lashing straps are securely pre-installed on the external frame. In addition to the eight pairs of stake pockets for square tube insert stakes in the external frame, there are eight stake pockets in the centre of the vehicle to secure the load. There are also two stake pockets fitted in each of two positions in the side member within the front section, which can be used instead of the front wall. All the stake pockets in the centre of the vehicle are also fitted with plastic inserts. To protect the interior of the front wall from damage during everyday use, it has been fitted with a 12-millimetre-thick and 2,500-millimetre-high textured coated board. The rear of the vehicles is also equipped with reinforced steel rubber bumpers for enhanced bump protection. Further protection is added by an eight-millimetre-thick lateral steel bracket across the entire width, as well as locking cam protection centrally mounted on the end plate of the frame. To avoid the need for aluminium or wooden slats, the trailers are fitted with a sliding tarpaulin at the sides, with 20 vertical aluminium lattices per side. Additional special equipment includes a steel light carrier, LED side lights, LED multi-chamber lights, an odometer, customs cable and more.
