LNG-trucks need extremely isolated and crash-proof fuel tanks. Tank expert SAG from Salzburg supplies them.
With the launch of the first in Germany approved LNG truck, focus remains on technology with refrigerated, liquefied natural gas powered commercial vehicles. The Salzburg Aluminium Group, one of the worldwide leading manufacturers of fuel tanks, supplies the fitting fuel reservoir in weight-saving, aluminum design.
The double-walled, with a vacuum-impinged between-casing built tank keeps the up to minus 162 degrees liquiefied natural gas at the same temperature for up to a week. The compactly built tank holds 750 liters of liquid natural gas, which is enough for a route of 750 kilometer. Depending on the vehicle's space capacity, a tank can be attached to both sides, whereby the total reach to the next refuelling increases to a long-distance-traffic suitable 1,500 kilometers. SAG delivers its LNG tanks to vehicle manufacturers like Iveco, Scania and, in future, MAN, as well as to the USA. SAG is present at the IAA in hall 26.
