The decarbonisation of transport logistics is unavoidable. At the same time, there is no one-size-fits-all solution. Every logistics company must determine the appropriate strategy based on a wide range of parameters and then implement it. Control variables include route length, average load weights, number and length of stops or the existing public charging infrastructure, to name but a few.
However, a haulage company does not have to collect and analyse these parameters on its own. Scania offers its customers a whole range of support services in data collection and analysis, as well as strategic advice, including the design of a holistic transformation strategy. Advantage for haulage companies: Scania offers all the building blocks for implementing such a strategy from a single source.
Exhibition stand called ‘Future Energy Hub’
Scania will be showcasing the entire breadth of its own portfolio at the ‘Future Energy Hub’, the company's trade fair stand. The truck manufacturer is constantly researching the drive technologies of the future - Future - and at the same time utilising every conceivable efficiency potential from existing technologies - Energy. In terms of a holistic approach, all components for future sustainability come together at one point, the hub at the trade fair.
Scania has brought proof of its own fuel efficiency with it: the Scania 460 R with Super driveline recently won the Green Truck Award 2024 for the most efficient tractor unit in Europe. The units consume eight percent less diesel than conventional engines - which saves 3,000 litres of fuel per year over 130,000 kilometres. At the same time, the drives last longer, as the engineers were able to increase the expected service life by almost a third.
BEVs are the transport solution of the future
Battery electric trucks (BEVs) are likely to be the transport solution of the future. The Södertälje-based manufacturer's portfolio includes BEVs for almost all applications, including the first BEV for long journeys. Other drive alternatives will also be on display at the Future Energy Hub, such as the latest generation of the proven V8 engine, which is designed to run on HVO or biodiesel (FAME). The range of engines is rounded off by two different gas engines, each optimised for urban and suburban transport as well as long distances.
Scania offers its own ecosystem of digital services, maintenance and financing solutions around the trucks, turning the vehicle manufacturer into a holistic mobility service provider. The basic maxim: ‘We put your sustainability strategy on the road today! Customised. Efficient. Together.’
