Scania, the Swedish truck manufacturer, presents the first photo of its new long-distance series.

Scania will start the launch of its new truck generation on August 23, the very day of its 125th anniversary. According to the company, this public debut was preceded by Scania's largest ever investment in new products and services. Scania is introducing its new offer in several phases. The beginning will be made by trucks for the European long-distance traffic. More vehicle models in different segments will follow later.

Audi design for the Swedes

However, there still isn't much to see of the youngest member of the brand with the Griffin. But a first glance at the cockpit of the new truck generation shows a certain proximity to the group’s sister company, Audi, at least when it comes to design. An interesting detail as an aside: Some weeks ago highly futuristic designed truck studies ghosted through the media, looking like they were taken straight from the Science-fiction movie “Tron”. How much Audi will ultimately be in the design, won't be revealed until 23 August.

“We are now in the final stages of preparing sales, service network, as well as the European production plants for the product launch”, says Christian Levin, Scania Executive Vice President Sales and Marketing. “At this point in time we won’t release any further information about the many innovations. But I am convinced that whatever Scania reveals on 23 August will be talked about - both inside and outside the industry."
