The Chinese manufacturer introduces an electrical coach after having sold 10,000 electrical city buses.  Additionally, the production for Europe is going to be set up in Hungary.

For the first time the Chinese battery and car specialist BYD will introduce a 12-meter long electrical coach, which is supposed to have a range of 200 kilometers. More cautiously Isbrand Ho, head of BYD Europe, however, talks about application areas as e.g. sightseeing and terminal and airport transport. The C9 has been exhibited at the UMA in New Orleans with three lengths as early as 2015. 100 buses have been sold in China so far. The vehicle with 51 seats is produced with BYD wheel-hub motors, which has two times 180 kW and a climbing power of about 20 percent.

The trunk with four cubic meters doesn’t have ample space. Fully-charged in about 3 hours, the manufacturer indicates a range of 140 up to 200 kilometers. At the end of 2016, the first 15 vehicles will be sold near Paris, where these buses are discontinued within the city by 2020. The manufacturer also delivers eight electrical double deckers as well as 51 solo deckers to London. BYD has also announced that the plant for the European bus production will be situated in Hungary.
