And it's on! “People and Goods on the Move” is the guiding theme of this year's IAA TRAANSPORTATION 2024. The leading platform for logistics, commercial vehicles and the transport sector has invited the international community to Hannover and will be presenting a huge range of innovations, particularly with regard to the future direction of the mobility transition. A colorful and exciting program is waiting for visitors from 17 to 22 September 2024.
Commercial vehicle and bus manufacturers, superstructure and trailer manufacturers, suppliers and tech companies, cargo bike and small vehicle providers, start-ups, providers of refueling and charging infrastructure as well as automated and autonomous driving and plenty more will fill the halls.
The official kick-off for this year's IAA TRANSPORTATION will take place on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at 10 a.m. In Hall 18, the Federal Minister for Digital and Transport, Dr. Volker Wissing (FDP), Hildegard Müller, President of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) and the Premier of Lower Saxony, Stephan Weil, as well as the Mayor of the City of Hanover, Belit Onay, will do the honors.
Immediately after the opening, the Federal Minister of Digital and Transport and the Premier of Lower Saxony, together with VDA President Hildegard Müller, will take a tour of the trade fair.
The IAA TRANSPORTATION has recorded a remarkable increase in the number of exhibitors this year. With over 1,650 exhibitors from 41 countries, the number of exhibitors is 20 percent above the figure recorded two years ago. Furthermore, with an international share of 73 percent, the trade fair has a record number of exhibitors from abroad. The IAA TRANSPORTATION also occupies more halls than the previous event - setting one record after another. Over 145 world and trade fair premieres as well as numerous innovations will be on display.
Startup Area in Hall 12
In Hall 12, the VDA will be presenting an exclusive Startup Area with 34 carefully selected new businesses from various countries, showcasing pioneering solutions for the mobility of tomorrow. There is no IAA TRANSPORTATION without a supporting program and specialist events: The VDA announced that the conference program has been expanded to include an additional stage compared to 2022. More than 100 program items are on the agenda, with around 300 speakers discussing the industry's key issues.
Another highlight: test drives, starting in Hall 11, will give visitors the opportunity to experience the latest commercial vehicles from more than 20 manufacturers in realistic driving scenarios. These test drives offer a practical demonstration of the performance and versatility of modern drive technologies, particularly in the field of electric and hydrogen vehicles.
Two-wheelers also get their stage. On September 18, the 5th National Cycle Logistics Conference of the German Cycle Logistics Association will take place on central topics of the industry.
Of course, no international industry show is complete without awards: for example, the presentation of the “Stars of the Year” awards for 2025 in the categories “International Bus of the Year”, “International Van of the Year”, “International Truck of the Year”, the “Truck Innovation Award” and the “International Trailer Award”. These awards honor outstanding achievements and innovations in the transport and logistics industry.
