After three years and around 363,000 kilometers in haulage operations, the winner of the latest ETM Fehrenkötter practical test has been determined: the DAF XF 480 was able to confidently beat the competition thanks to its good price-performance ratio, reliable technology and solid performance in the fuel consumption chapter. The Volvo FH 460 is the winner in the variable costs section with the best consumption values (in the combination of diesel and AdBlue). Iveco secured third place on the podium with the S-Way with 480 hp engine.

The prizes for overall victory and victory in the all-important variable costs section were presented at the IAA TRANSPORTATION at BPW's stand A30 in hall 26. BPW supplied the axles for the special trailers in the test, and the BPW AirSave system monitored the tire pressure of the trucks. DEKRA kept an eye on the technical and economic aspects of the trucks. Michelin provided the tires from the X Multi (tractor units) and X-Line Energy (trailers) series.

“We are delighted and very proud that the DAF XF 480 performed so successfully in the ETM Fehrenkötter practical test and was able to take first place,” explained Marc Blom, Director Fleet Sales and Zero Emission at DAF Trucks Germany. “This outstanding efficiency of the 2017 model year has been continuously and successfully continued in the new generation DAF model series with the launch in 2021.” Christoph Fitz, Director New Vehicle Sales and Managing Director of Volvo Trucks Vertriebs-GmbH, also expressed his enthusiasm at the award ceremony and said: “We are delighted that the Volvo FH was able to impress in terms of running costs in a practical test and came out on top against the strong field of applicants from a total of seven manufacturers. Efficiency and endurance with outstanding comfort and maximum safety - this is what Volvo Trucks stands for, above all with the successful Volvo FH model.”

In addition to the DAF XF, the Volvo FH and the Iveco S-Way, the MAN TGX, the Mercedes-Benz Actros, the Renault T and the Scania S also took part in the latest ETM Fehrenkötter practical test. Preparations for the practical comparison date back to the fall of 2020. By July 2021, all brands were finally in operation.
