IAA News: Mr. Alm, how are you looking ahead to the start of the IAA TRANSPORTATION 2024?
Roger Alm: Volvo Trucks is looking forward to being represented at the IAA TRANSPORTATION 2024. It is a very important time in our industry and we are fully focused on moving towards zero emissions and zero accidents. I am looking forward to seeing the public's reactions to all the new trucks we are exhibiting and to having a good dialog with customers, partners and suppliers about future transport solutions. What can visitors expect from the Volvo Trucks stand in Hall 21?We will be exhibiting our fantastic Volvo FH Aero, a truck with great aerodynamics that reduces fuel consumption and is available in four variants, including biofuel and electric. Customers will benefit from up to seven percent better fuel efficiency. Also, don't miss our impressive American flagship, the Volvo VNL, a typical truck for the USA with a long nose. Volvo has eight electric truck models on offer and is a leader in electric mobility with more than 4,000 electric trucks in daily service with our customers. So if you're interested in going electric, you should definitely talk to us.And more specifically, what are the key innovations from Volvo Trucks this year? Our new Volvo FH Aero is packed with innovative features that increase fuel efficiency and safety. I would particularly like to mention our new camera monitor system, which replaces conventional exterior mirrors. This new solution has been very well received by customers. It improves the aerodynamics of the truck, but also safety through a much better direct view from the driver's seat, even in rain and darkness. Another innovation that I am very proud of is our brand new 17-liter diesel engine in our FH16 truck. With up to 780 hp, it is the most powerful engine in the industry. This new engine is also five percent more economical than the engine it replaces, meaning more power and less fuel. And it can run on biodiesel and HVO.What is your message to customers? If you are interested in energy-efficient and safe transport solutions combined with services that can optimize your transport operations, you should talk to Volvo Trucks. We have the widest and most up-to-date product range in the industry and have something to offer our customers in all transport segments. Efficient diesel engines that can run on biodiesel, gas-powered trucks that can run on biogas, and electric trucks that can handle a variety of transportation tasks - from urban distribution and waste management to regional transport and construction. In a few years' time, we will also be launching fuel cell electric trucks and trucks with combustion engines that run on hydrogen. Why is it so important to stay on the path towards zero?We need to decarbonize the transport industry - for future generations, but also because societies and customers expect us to do so, and it's great to see more and more companies setting high sustainability goals and seeing the business potential in zero-emission transport. That's why we have a broad offering based on three technologies: battery electric, fuel cell electric and combustion engines running on renewable fuels such as green hydrogen, biogas or HVO.
