For the first time, SAF-HOLLAND is presenting all of its brands at a joint stand at this year's IAA TRANSPORTATION. In this interview, CTO and EMEA President Christoph Günter talks about the Group's latest acquisitions.

IAA aktuell: Mr Günter, a lot has changed at SAF-HOLLAND since the last IAA due to acquisitions such as Haldex, IMS, Tecma and Assali Stefen. At the IAA, we can now marvel at the joint trade fair appearance of all brands. How is the merger developing?

Christoph Günter: Acquiring internationally successful companies is always a challenge, but we are very satisfied with the progress of the various integrations. Our employees are working every day on the further development and optimal linking of our portfolio, such as axle and suspension systems, telematics and trailer EBS control, to form an intelligent unit. We are already seeing the positive results and are also receiving very positive feedback from our customers, whose needs are always at the centre of our attention.

The joint trade fair appearance with all our brands is an excellent example of how successfully we have grown together in a short space of time.Where do synergies arise in the collaboration? Are you already tackling specific projects together?

Thanks to the intelligent expansion of our portfolio, we are ideally placed to shape the diverse changes in the transport industry. Together with Haldex, for example, we are working on innovative digitalisation solutions and using our mechatronics expertise for new developments in the field of electrification and autonomous driving. SAF-HOLLAND and Haldex have already been working together successfully for years in the area of disc brakes for trailers. We now want to expand this market position to the truck sector. From the fourth quarter of 2024, another truck manufacturer will be installing our disc brakes as standard. With Tecma, Assali Stefen and IMS, we are also ideally positioned for further growth, from rigid axles to self-steering axles for trailers.

How do you experience teamwork within the company? Are there any reservations or do you see combined strengths?

Of course, there are uncertainties at the beginning of mergers, but I can proudly say that our employees have approached the matter with a great deal of commitment and openness. We see a real sense of togetherness. This enables us to achieve common goals. Globally, but also in the EMEA region, we have established integrated management teams made up of representatives from the various companies at all levels. Our teams value the potential and the exchange of knowledge made possible by the various acquisitions.

What does the merger mean for customers?

Our customers benefit from the added value of the expanded product portfolio and innovative technologies. We can react faster and more flexibly to our customers' needs and offer customised solutions from a single source. Thanks to the selective expansion (IMS, Haldex, Tecma, Assali Stefen), we offer customers improved service and availability as well as faster delivery performance across all brands. This enables us to act even more strongly as a partner to our customers and provide them with comprehensive and future-proof technologies.
