The energy supply company E.ON organized the first eTruckathon in cooperation with the IAA TRANSPORTATION in the run-up to the IAA in Hanover. The practical suitability of electric and fuel cell trucks and the associated charging and hydrogen infrastructure was demonstrated on the route from Essen to Hanover. A total of twelve e-trucks and twelve teams covered the 300 kilometers from Essen to Hanover and presented their experiences.
Participants in the eTruckathon included teams from renowned companies such as Daimler Truck, DB Schenker, DHL, Elflein Transport & Logistik, FAUN, Fiege, Gruber Logistics, Hyundai, Hylane, MAN, Renault, L. Stroetmann and Trailer Dynamics. The starting point was the E.ON Drive TestingLab in Essen, where E.ON is developing charging solutions for electromobility. Although the trucks' range is sufficient for the route, charging stops were planned to demonstrate their suitability for everyday use. The destination was the IAA exhibition grounds in Hanover.
Together with the participating companies, E.ON will be presenting the experiences and findings at the IAA in Hanover. The E.ON stand can be found in Hall 19/20 at stand C52. There, the eTruckathon teams will be available to answer any questions about the event and the latest developments in electric heavy goods transport. E.ON will also be presenting integrated solutions at the IAA TRANSPORTATION that can make it easier for companies to switch to electromobility and thus enable a smooth transition to sustainable transportation.
