Thomas Korn: We are following up the successful premiere of our 18-ton distribution truck at the IAA 2022 with a new product presentation. This year, we are presenting a tractor unit with a hydrogen combustion engine for up to 44-ton articulated lorries, with which we want to inspire logistics companies, transport companies and their customers. This marks the start of the order phase for the vehicles, which will be available for hire or purchase by 2026 at the latest.
In addition to highly interesting customer contacts, the IAA is of course also a platform to meet existing investors and new capital providers and also to exchange ideas with many partners with whom we are jointly developing and shaping the hydrogen ecosystem in Germany and Europe: on the one hand with CO2-free hydrogen trucks, and on the other hand by jointly expanding the necessary infrastructure by providing a network of hydrogen refuelling stations.
Yes, by converting conventional combustion engines into hydrogen combustion engines, we not only offer a CO2-free and very competitive mobility solution, but also an attractive all-inclusive service package for the operation of our trucks. Together with our cooperation and technology partners, we are in a position to offer a sustainable and holistic ecosystem that will ultimately enable us to operate hydrogen vehicles in large numbers in Germany and Europe. We will also be presenting this ecosystem with our partners RYZE Power, Dilo, water stuff & sun and HDI at our stand.
KEYOU-inside technology is already being used in 18-ton trucks with 7.8-litre engines for distribution transport and will also be used in tractor units with 13-litre hydrogen engines for tractor-trailer combinations with a total weight of up to 44 tons from 2026. Around half of the new and existing commercial vehicles over 12 tons gross vehicle weight registered in Germany are tractor units. They also cover the most kilometres per year in comparison. The leverage for replacing conventional, fossil-fuelled drive systems with zero-emission hydrogen engines, which best meet the requirements of operators in terms of range, total cost of ownership and availability compared to other zero-emission technologies, is correspondingly high.
KEYOU offers customers zero-emission hydrogen mobility in a complete package as a rental model under the name KEYOU H2 Mobility as a Service. In addition to the vehicles, this package also includes service, maintenance and repairs, insurance, taxes and, optionally, the hydrogen itself.
In this context, our cooperation with our investor DILO should be mentioned in particular, as part of which we have jointly developed a hydrogen service device that can be used to efficiently maintain and repair hydrogen vehicles in a very practical and straightforward manner. In addition, our technology partner water stuff & sun is presenting a disruptive, ground-breaking option for storing hydrogen in the mobility sector.
CO2-free lorry logistics is no longer a vision of the future, but a reality. With our KEYOU-inside technology, vehicles can already be fuelled very attractively with CO2-free hydrogen and, from 2028, actually at diesel-equivalent total costs. As always, but green!
