Ford Pro is really going all out at the IAA TRANSPORTATION 2024 with the E-Transit Courier, which can be ordered now, the new E-Transit Custom, the E-Transit and the Transit Connect as a plug-in hybrid (PHEV). And there will also be a new, electrified family member in the pick-up segment on the Ford stand in Hall 13 for the first time: the Ranger PHEV.
The E-Transit Courier is the latest all-electric model in the Ford Pro electric line-up. With its 43.5 kWh battery, the compact van has a range of up to 300 kilometers. The manufacturer specifies a maximum payload of 700 kilograms, and 750-kilogram-trailers can also be attached. The first deliveries are planned for spring 2025. The larger model brother, the E-Transit Custom, is already rolling off the production line. According to Ford Pro, it is the European market leader in the 1.0-ton class and, like the
Transit Custom with plug-in hybrid drive, is manufactured at Ford Otosan in Kocaeli, Turkey. The Transit Connect PHEV, which will hit the roads in fall, will make its European debut. This variant can cover up to 118 kilometers on electric power alone. A new feature here is the FlexCab equipment, which makes switching from passenger to freight transport particularly quick and easy.
However, the flagship van from Ford Pro is and remains the E-Transit: According to the manufacturer, it is Europe’s best-selling e-transporter with a payload of two tons and will now appeal to even more customers with a new version featuring a larger 89 kWh battery. A heat pump as standard, faster charging and a range of up to 402 kilometers make it a flexible high-tech commercial vehicle. The new long-range version can already be ordered from October, with production scheduled to start at the beginning of 2025.
Still missing the model for building and adventure: the Ranger. The plug-in hybrid model of the pick-up is making its world
debut at the IAA TRANSPORTATION and is sure to turn heads. On the drive side, it is equipped with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine that transfers its power to a modular hybrid transmission with an integrated electric motor. This turns the Ranger into a true powerhouse: 690 nm of torque and 279 hp are a statement that even the Ranger with the V6 turbodiesel has to bow to. And, of course, the Ranger PHEV can also drive purely electrically with this combination, specifically more than
45 kilometers at a stretch. The off-road capability of the Ranger PHEV is fully retained with its all-wheel drive system. Payload (up to one ton) and the maximum towing capacity (3.5 tons) also make no compromises necessary. What’s more, the electrification even has decisive advantages in terms of practicality, as the Ranger PHEV can provide up to 6.9 kW for construction equipment with a new high-output connection, for example.
In addition to the actual vehicles, Ford Pro will also be presenting the FORDLiive uptime management system at the IAA TRANSPORTATION in a specially installed Liive Center. The FORDLiive Powerwall, an oversized, ultra-wide digital screen, will be used to visualize how the Ford Pro team uses vehicle data and workshop data from Ford dealers to act proactively and avoid unplanned vehicle downtime.
