Achim Kotz: In the BPW Group, we always develop solutions for the transport and logistics industry in close contact with freight forwarders, drivers, dispatchers, fleet managers and innovative industry partners. So we look forward to seeing them again and continuing the exchange of ideas at the IAA. Dialogue with transport professionals is our main focus.
I also hope that the IAA will rekindle the fascination for transport and logistics despite all the challenges our industry is currently facing.
The transport industry is geared from A to Z towards profitability. With rising costs caused by fuel prices, driver and personnel costs, vehicle, workshop and spare parts costs, as well as a decline in margins, the economic pressure is higher than ever. In addition, the transport industry is burdened by excessive bureaucracy. That is why, together with our subsidiaries, we are presenting solutions that are made for the reality of everyday transport – because they provide immediate relief, are readily available and once again promise greater scope, control and efficiency for transport operators.
This definitely includes our intelligent chassis generation iC Plus, which is equipped with telematics as standard and uses artificial intelligence, among other things, to bring transparency, safety and predictability to the entire transport process – from optimized utilization and braking performance analysis to the control of the transport process to driver, fleet and maintenance management. These intelligent functions can now also be retrofitted – with our iC Plus retrofit kit. We will also be showing our ePower generator axle. As an integral part of the Thermo King AxlePower system, it generates energy to supply electric or hybrid cooling units when driving and braking the trailer.
Depending on the application and mileage, this makes it possible to save up to 4,000 litres of diesel and reduce CO2 emissions by ten tons per trailer and year. Another solution for reducing diesel consumption comes from our subsidiary Hesterberg. With an aerodynamic end beam for the trailer roof, the diesel consumption of the tractor can be reduced by up to 0.4 litres per 100 km with minimum effort, thus making a significant contribution to VECTO certification for trailers. Our telematics experts from idem telematics will also present cargofleet assistant, a new AI function to support fleet managers and dispatchers in their day-to-day work.
We focus on providing our customers with tangible solutions to their current challenges, rather than offering long-term visions for the future. Visionary transportation ideologies create flashes of light, but solutions must also be economical so that transportation remains affordable for all.
