Entertainment, information and interaction: This is the motto of the IAA TRANSPORTATION Driver‘s and Family Weekend, starting on Saturday, 21 September. The event offers plenty of attractions and interactive formats, as well as a varied entertainment program with live music.
The show paddock of the FIA Goodyear European Truck Racing Championship (ETRC) will be at the centre of the event-packed weekend. Six teams will present their race trucks and showcase the latest technologies. Visitors can not only look behind the scenes, but also attend autograph sessions with the racing drivers and compete with the teams in the moderated tyre changing competition.
Another highlight is the ‘IAA Experience Area’, which offers a variety of activities, especially for younger guests. These include the VW ID.Buzz bouncy castle, a trampoline, quad bike course, a children’s railway track and bull riding. Numerous catering options and seating areas invite visitors to linger.
In addition, a number of artists will be performing on the open-air stage on Saturday and Sunday, including the band Heavysaurus, who play children’s rock music. Another highlight is the presentation of the ‘Ehren-Blicki’ Award. In addition, an exclusive weekend program awaits visitors at many IAA exhibitors.
For example, the ECO Disc Challenge will take place at the BPW Bergische Achsen stand (outdoor area, stand D81), where visitors can put their brake-changing skills to the test. There will also be an opportunity to compete against Tim Frost, the chief mechanic of the T-Sport Bernau truck racing team. The fastest brake disc changers can look forward to attractive prizes.
At Daimler Truck (Hall 19/20, stand A73), visitors will have the opportunity to take part in a family tour and drive or ride in various models as part of the Driving Experience. On Saturday and Sunday, the vehicle manufacturer will also be offering a ride in the legendary Unimog U 4023 with double cab on stand B118 on the open-air site. The tour leads over a four-metre-high ramp. From car models to model cars: This year‘s IAA TRANSPORTATION in Pavilion 11 once again offers space for Automania. Sellers and collectors will meet at the popular model car fair to trade in nostalgic models.
Anyone who wants to get behind the wheel of a truck or bus but does not have a driving licence can take part in test drives with an experienced driving instructor in hall 16. However, a class B driving licence is required and the minimum age is 18. The solar-powered Ferris wheel provides the best view of the grounds. The ride is free of charge!
At JOST-Werke (open-air site, stand M63), the clutching-challenge will start as part of the experience weekend. Visitors can set themselves the challenge of coupling the truck on the KKS Truck Simulator faster than truck racing driver Sascha Lenz. The winner will receive a great prize.
But there is even more program at the JOST Truck Stop corner (Hall 26, stand D34). The well-known influencer Opiosi will also be providing information on assembly, repair, maintenance and operation of the products and how to use commercial vehicles correctly. And Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is also coming up with something for the young and old. At the weekend there will be the aforementioned ID.Buzz bouncy castle on the open-air site in front of Hall 23, and on Saturday a sweet surprise awaits visitors on the Day of the Trades. There will also be an opportunity for younger visitors to win a special travel prize in the California Welt (Hall 12, C03).
But this is just a small excerpt of everything that awaits visitors to the IAA TRANSPORTATION during the adventure weekend. One thing is certain: Boredom is guaranteed to be a thing of the past at the numerous events.
